# Agent lifecycle API readiness

> Dated current-surface status for Studio agent lifecycle actions.

**Status checked 2026-10-22 against main revision `37c75867e53dbcb92e1360cfa3a8bbb0fb9c67ae`.** These pages describe requested UI actions and current API availability. A missing action is not a callable API, approved scope, webhook event, SDK operation or MCP tool.

The account `agents` routes in `config/routes.rb` are human account-user management (`Api::V1::Accounts::AgentsController`), not Studio orchestration agents. The parsed OpenAPI paths contain no Studio roster, template, persona, draft, appearance, pause, resume or retire operations. The route block does expose agent configuration version list/diff and route show/rollback. The canonical [Agent configuration versions](/api-reference/agent-configuration-versions) page documents these four existing operations and the shared publish/rollback concept. Publish remains a missing HTTP surface owned by ENG-5888.

## Shared lifecycle boundary

Pause and resume form one missing lifecycle family. The conductor page references this definition instead of adding a second family. Before implementation, define persisted state transitions, actor audit, behavior for an already-paused or already-active agent, and the handling of active conversations. No external client permission, confirmation step, publish gate, or audit behavior is established by this inventory.
