# Keyboard shortcuts

> The combinations that move you around Tied without reaching for the mouse.

Press <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>/</kbd> anywhere in Tied to bring up this list in the app.

<Tip>
  **The shortcut most worth knowing is not in this list.** <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>K</kbd> opens the
  [command bar](/inbox/command-bar), which navigates anywhere and performs most conversation and
  bulk actions by name — so you do not have to memorise a shortcut for each one.
</Tip>

## Getting around

| Keys | Goes to |
| - | - |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>C</kbd> | Conversations |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>V</kbd> | Contacts |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>R</kbd> | Reports |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>S</kbd> | Settings → Members and teams |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>O</kbd> | Show or hide the sidebar |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>N</kbd> | Next tab |

<Warning>
  **These do not fire while your cursor is in the composer.** Any shortcut that would otherwise
  type a character is suppressed whenever a text field has focus. Click out of the composer, or
  press <kbd>Esc</kbd> to leave it, first. The two conversation-list shortcuts below are the
  exception — they are the only ones that work with the composer focused.
</Warning>

<Note>
  <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>R</kbd> and <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>S</kbd> land on pages a plain agent
  cannot open. Reports needs the administrator role or the **Reports** custom permission; Members
  and teams is administrator-only. The shortcut fires either way — you simply arrive somewhere you
  are not allowed to be. See [Roles and permissions](/roles-permissions).
</Note>

## Moving through the conversation list

| Keys | Does |
| - | - |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>J</kbd> | Previous conversation |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>K</kbd> | Next conversation |
| <kbd>Up</kbd> / <kbd>Down</kbd> | Move through an open dropdown |

They move through the list **as it is currently filtered**, so they pair well with a [saved view](/inbox/views) — set the view to what you intend to work through, then walk it without touching the list again.

## Working a conversation

| Keys | Does |
| - | - |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>L</kbd> | Switch to the reply box |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>P</kbd> | Switch to a private note |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>E</kbd> | Resolve |
| <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>E</kbd> | Resolve, then open the next conversation |
| <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>A</kbd> | Add an attachment |
| <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>M</kbd> | Open the snooze menu |

<Tip>
  **<kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>E</kbd> is the one that compounds.** Resolving and
  advancing in a single keystroke is the difference between working a filtered queue and clicking
  through it.
</Tip>

## Help

| Keys | Does |
| - | - |
| <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>/</kbd> | Show the shortcut list |
| <kbd>Cmd</kbd> + <kbd>Esc</kbd> | Close it again |

<Note>
  On Windows and Linux, use <kbd>Ctrl</kbd> wherever <kbd>Cmd</kbd> is shown. Everything using
  <kbd>Alt</kbd> is the same on every platform.
</Note>

<Tip>
  **The two worth learning first are <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>J</kbd> and <kbd>Alt</kbd> + <kbd>K</kbd>.**
  Most of the mouse work in a support shift is moving between conversations in a list you have
  already filtered, and these remove all of it.
